Coaching is a professional partnership to assist you in achieving more fulfilling results in your personal and professional life. Through coaching, you focus on the skills and actions needed to successfully produce personally and professionally relevant results. Find out more about what coaching is.
With coaching, you will clarify your goals and attain them. You will grow through and from the process of coaching, and will come out of it a more courageous, capable, grounded, fulfilled, satisfied and happy person. Find out about the benefits of coaching.
Coaching typically begins with an initial discovery session, to assess your current opportunities and challenges, to define the scope of the coaching relationship, to identify priorities for action, and to establish specific desired outcomes. Subsequent coaching sessions are generally scheduled two to three times each month. Between scheduled coaching sessions, we might agree on specific actions to complete before the next session, designed to support progress towards your goals.

The length of a coaching partnership varies depending on your goals, needs and preferences, and can range from one session to years of coaching. For certain types of focused coaching, 3 to 6 months of working with a coach may be sufficient. For other types of coaching, people may find it beneficial to work with a coach for a longer period. On average, our work with client lasts for 6 to 12 months. No time commitment is required though a 3-month commitment is encouraged to experience the full impact of the process. Many clients also come back over time (sometimes for years), for “spot coaching”.
Most coaching work is done over the telephone, though regular face-to-face or Skype meetings are encouraged and recommended at a frequency we co-determine. This allows for long-distance coaching: we have clients all over the United States and all over the world. Coaches are trained to “listen” to phone conversations at a different level than most, and can “hear” what is being said way beyond the words. Telephone conversations also provide a certain kind of anonymity which often enhances the depth of the conversation. Finally, telephone coaching offers immense flexibility and time savings.
Totally flexible! It’s always just a matter of finding what works for everyone’s schedules.

Look for someone with whom you feel you can easily relate, and with whom you feel you can create the most powerful partnership – in other words, it’s important to feel like you and your coach are a good “match”. Do you trust them? Do you feel good and safe when you talk to them? Do you feel encouraged after you hang up the phone? Additional considerations include the coach’s experience, specific coach training completed, attainment of ICF or other coaching credentials, coaching success stories and coaching philosophies.

As a matter of fact, I do! Being born and raised in France to a French dad and German mom, I speak these other two languages fluently as well. So I coach in English, French and German.
On the part of your coach, you can expect bold commitment to your fulfillment and success. Expect directness and compassion, but also encouragement to be at your best. From the coaching process, expect to see things with new eyes; to move through the world with a heightened sense of self-awareness and goals; and to create the conditions to experience the fulfillment you seek as you implement your plans.
That you come fully committed to the process – with an open mind and a hunger for more – understanding that you will explore unfamiliar territory and often will want to run away when facing your old patterns of fearful and anxious thoughts.
Professional coaching is a distinct service which focuses on your life as it relates to goal setting, outcome creation and personal change management. In an effort to understand what a coach is, it can be helpful to distinguish coaching from other professions that provide personal or organizational support: coaching is not the same as therapy, consulting or training. The job of a coach is not to heal (as it often is in therapy), although healing often happens through the coaching process. Coaching is not consulting: the expertise of a coach is in questioning and helping clients find their own answers – not in giving expert opinions. Finally, a coach is not a trainer or a teacher – even though through coaching lots of self-learning does take place and the coachee often does learn new patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving through the coaching process. However, if a client asks a coach for their opinion or calls on their expertise, it is perfectly OK for the coach to respond – in that moment, what is happening is no longer pure coaching.
